  • Richmond Park and Isabella Plantation - a talk by Simon Richards

    Azalea Vuyks Scarlet

    Richmond Park is the largest of several parks around London which are Royal Parks, originally used by royalty for entertainment and are now maintained as a charity! It has 300 fallow deer and 300 red deer which help to keep the Park in its state of a mix of trees and grasses and bracken. Simon mentioned that the public are warned not approach the deer during the rutting season – there have been incidents.

  • Growing fruit in a small garden

    Jim Arbury from RHS Wisley delivered a very informative and interesting talk about growing fruit in a small garden.

    He explained all about different kinds of fruit tree rootstocks appropriate for a small garden including the various forms that can be grown including cordons, fan, espalier and pyramid. He also provided examples of the best varieties.

    The 2018 MHS Annual Show was held on Saturday 1st September as part of the Merstham Summer Fun Day.
