Winter Jasmine (Jasminum nudiflorum)

A tough shrub, well adapted for growing up trellis attached to walls, winter jasmine is now much ignored although its bright yellow flowers can sing out on dull, winter days.

It is an evergreen shrub and it doesn’t need a great deal of care – just a prune after flowering to control its vigorous foliage, plus the odd feed. Once the plant is established you can cut it back with shears without any damage to the plant’s health.

Although winter jasmine is often grown as a wall shrub it can grown as a loose hedge or ground cover on slopes.

So …what’s not to like?
