Winter Aconite (Eranthis hyemalis)
The delicate looking yellow flowers are a welcome sight in early winter and often appear in January. They flower throughout February and are well worth their spot in any type of garden.
They reach around 4 inches in height and cope with most soils, provided they are moderately fertile.
Aconites belong to the buttercup family and can be propagated from seed or by separating the plants after flowering and re-planting the tubers before they dry out.
